Gideon is the 'King of Kings', the 'Conqueror of the Fire Beast', the 'Tamer of Pyroars'... and so on. He 'tames' these dangerous Pokemon, and entices them to perform many stunts and tricks on the stage. His act includes any of the big cat pokemon, from Luxrays to Persians to Liepards, but the main attraction is the large, shiny male Pyroar. Some tricks include balancing acts, rearing on their hind legs and posing, jumping through loops / climbing obstacles, etc. [ x x ]

[ Wish. ] "I wish I could always look as I did in this old painting..."
If only life were as beautiful as it once was. If only he was as beautiful as he once was. But alas, even someone as flawless as Gideon was beginning to grow dull, old, worn out. And he despised it, he really did. He couldn't dare live life like this, when he was no longer as perfect as he was when he was young, when he had just grown and gotten married and learned how to be truly happy. If there was a way to turn the clock back, to really remind the world how amazing he truly was.

In a way, Gideon wished for immortality - but not precisely. Looking back on an old painting, his one true desire was to remain looking as youthful and handsome as he did once before - on his wedding day, to be precise. Mr. Dark granted his wish, providing Gideon with the exact appearance of that painting - and nothing more. Gideon would always look like he did in the painting, yet he'd continue to age internally, growing physically and emotionally weaker and weaker despite his young appearance. But it wasn't necessarily the youth he was promised, but moreso the appearance of the painting. If one were to look closely at him, they'd probably see the faded, almost artificial acrylic colorations on his flesh. He's attached to the painting in that if something happened to it, he'd be affected. For example, if it was injured, wounds would then appear on his body.

So basically, Gideon looks literally as he does in the painting, but he ages as any normal Pokemon does. Inside the circus grounds, his old age doesn't affect his energy as much, but the further he strays from the circus, the more tired he gets.

[ History. ]
His earliest years could quite easily be considered his best. Gideon was the middle child out of five, living in Nacrene City with his two parents along with his elderly aunt and three cousins. Needless to say, Gideon lived in a large, yet crowded household. However, his parents always went out of their ways to care about him and each of his siblings as equally as possible. They'd admire their healthy young children as they slowly grew up, each with their own skills, interests, and hobbies.

His father was a hunter, and the family had a Stoutland, along with her three pups. The Stoutland had been trained by the father as a hunting dog, and Gideon had grown interested to watch his father train the dog and teach her. Taking the methods that his father used to train her, Gideon tried to teach her and the Lillipups tricks; they learned basic things, such as 'sit' and 'speak' - but these little things caught the attention of the family and, of course, Gideon continued taming them and teaching them tricks. This rose even more interest in him, as he desired to learn not only how to tame larger and more dangerous Pokemon, but to also learn more skills that get his family's praise.

Gideon reveled in the attention that his parents payed to him. He'd smile wide, only wishing to please them even more. While they cared for him as much as the rest of his siblings, Gideon began to hold the beliefthat they loved him more than the others. Their compliments and encouragements always seemed more important when directed at him, after all. So despite being the middle child, he developed a superior edge, believing himself to be worth so much more than the rest of his siblings.

Over time, their compliments turned from his knowledge and talents to his appearance, admiring how he'd begun to grow into an attractive young boy. As he evolved, he'd taken more interest in taking care of his appearance, and succeed. Despite being a Dusklops - some can be put off by the single eye - he'd still be admired by many, either for is charming smile or nicely squared jawline. He grew rather charismatic, happily talking to others, making the best impression possible - because this seemed to earn him even more praise.

Just two years after he evolved into a Dusknoir, Gideon met the woman who would become his wife: a Froslass named Emelia. Her beauty was matched by no one, not even Gideon himself, and he fell in love almost immediately. When he was with her, he forgot about his narcissistic ways (that isnt to say he wasn't still arrogant, but he honestly admired her more than himself). They wed and had a lovely portrait done of the two of them by a skilled professional. But when Gideon saw that painting, a truly well done reflection of himself, he was reminded instantly of how beautiful he was. He loved that painting, and insisted that it be hung in the main room of their home, with plenty of lights surrounding it so everyone around can see it's magnificence. It wasn't all that large, but it was still fascinating and detailed, and every day, he'd admire the painting, claiming how well done it was, but truly only loving it for how he looked in it.

As they lived their lives together, Gideon began to go more and more into his Pokemon taming hobby, eventually expanding it to not just a small form of entertainment for his friends and family, but also as a small show that he'd perform for the local citizens of Nacrene. He'd capture larger, more 'dangerous' Pokemon, with the help of his hunter father, and train and tame and teach them all of the most fascinating tricks. His performances would gather so much wonder and praise from those who'd see his shows, that he kept wanting to expand and go bigger, train more dangerous Pokemon, get a bigger audience. Yet, something as time consuming as Pokemon taming caused the years to fly by, and as he aged, Gideon had begun to realize how his own appearance had started to differ from before. He developed wrinkles on his face, faint at first but they increased in intensity over time. He grew tired, his hair beginning to thin and turn dull and grey. Devastated at his loss of youth, Gideon tried whatever he could to maintain his handsome appearance, but to no avail. He looked so different from the painting that he loved so dearly. He eventually stopped hosting his Pokemon performances. He even refused to leave the house, or to invite anyone over, because he felt like he was hideous and unworthy to be seen by anyone. He even distanced himself from his wife, who would try and try to get him to come out of the house like he once did.

One night, the Dusknoir ended up leaving the house for a stroll; after cooping himself up for so long, he finally caved and wanted the fresh air, but only chose to go out late at night when everyone else was asleep. Walking through the abandoned streets, the painting in his hands, he had unknowingly passed by the grounds to a travelling circus that he hadn't even realized arrived in town. He didn't acknowledge its presence until a voice rang out to his side and, reluctantly, he turned to see a Darkrai in the distance.

"It's awfully late to be out and about," the Darkrai said, "Might there be something troubling you, sir?" Gideon was hesitant in responding, and eyed the man warily. He never answered directly, but his silence was enough for the Darkrai. "You clearly seem upset. I'm sorry about whatever has wronged you. Tell me, is there anything that I might be able to assist with? Anything you wish for me to do?"

Weirded out by the whole situation, Gideon could barely believe what he was hearing. Some random stranger was so selflessly offering to help someone he didn't know. But, for reasons all the same, Gideon found himself letting out a mournful sigh, and speaking before he could really stop himself, "Ah... I suppose it's quite obvious that I am upset. I'm getting older... as you can see... And I hate it. I can't handle the thought of changing so drastically..." He slowly looked down to the painting in his hands. "Oh, how handsome I was on that day. I wish I could always look as I did in this old painting..."

To his surprise, the Darkrai let out a soft chuckle, and, "Ah, yes. That sounds simple enough." Confused, Gideon glanced back over to the dark figure, and yet, the man was gone, leaving absolutely no trace of his presence. The interaction was so abnormal, that Gideon ended up deciding that it was all his tired imagination. He returned home, hung the picture back up, and went to sleep.

When he awoke and went to his mirror, he was shocked to find that he looked... Young! His wrinkles were gone, his hair its beautiful golden sheen once more. His smile bright and youthful, just as it was in his wedding painting. Overjoyed, he hadn't even realized the fact that he didn't feel any different physically. In fact, he was just as tired as ever. But, who cared? He looked beautiful again! He gladly returned to his more optimistic and social lifestyle, eager to show his flawless face again. He even returned to his Pokemon performances; he wasn't as agile as he was once before, but no matter, the praise from the shows were enough!

He lived through the years as outgoing and happy as ever, going to gatherings, putting on shows, or inviting others over in order to mingle and get the praise that he so rightfully deserved. But over time, he began to realize how tired he was getting. Despite how young he clearly looked, he seemed to still age, to the point where it was almost unbearable to walk on his own. Being a Ghost Type, he lived a bit longer than the average 'mon, and he knew this. But he seemed to have lost count of the years, and hadn't realized how elderly he had really become, until it was made clear by his wife. Emelia was confused by his appearance; she had no idea how he could possibly look that way again, and, seeing how much he cared about his appearance and how handsome he was, she began to fear that she wasn't good enough for him. After all, she still aged over the years, gaining such a significantly older appearance, and before long, she looked so much older than Gideon that she grew worried that he'd begin to dislike her for her appearance. "You'll stop loving me because I'm hideous!" she would claim. "How is this possible? What sort of monster have I become, where I turn into this and yet you remain so handsome?" One night, the Frosslass went into a panic - she was frail and old, and beginning to turn demented - and in a fit of mad rage, she attacked the painting on the wall with a knife, stabbing it right at the side of Gideon's chest. Gideon let out a cry as sudden pain erupted from his own chest, and blood began to seep out of a gash there, that seemed to appear out of no where. His wife, shocked by the sudden sight of blood and a nasty looking wound, screamed before she fainted. Gideon, however, was too distracted by his own injury to tend to his wife. He tried and tried to stop the bleeding, but it was no use-

And then he realized the fact that he had gotten injured because of what she had done to the painting. He frantically made to mend the canvas, covering up the hole with other bits of paper and glue. It wasn't a flawless repair, but it was amazingly enough to stop the bleeding in his chest. As soon as he was okay, he checked on his wife, only to realize that she was no longer alive. The doctors later told him that she passed due to a heart attack - she always had bad heart conditions, and the shock must have been too much for her to handle. Gideon, while his heart was broken... Didn't feel as much pain as he thought he would. In fact... He was more angered than sad. Angered at the fact that she was crazy because he was beautiful. How selfish was she to drive herself insane because he was perfect? Clearly, she didn't deserve someone as flawless as him. She wasn't worth him. He neglected in telling them of his own injuries. He knew they wouldn't have answers, but one man would.

He had gotten word that that same circus from had returned into town. How did he know it was the same circus? 'Circus Darkrai'. How original, right? He visited the circus in search for that man from before and, sure enough, he found him. After Gideon confronted this 'Mr. Dark', the Ringmaster only smiled and said, "Well well, it's been quite some time. A bit too long, if you ask me but, I knew you'd return. Are you enjoying your wish, Mister Diggory?"

While Gideon would have probably been outraged from such a trick, he was more intrigued. So, the Darkrai had caused this? He made it to where Gideon would always look like his painting? That was actually rather fascinating. After Gideon had fully come to understand the situation, Mr. Dark had offered him a position in his travelling circus, where he'd always be admired for his skill and, no doubt, his charmingly good looks. Gideon accepted without a second thought, the idea of travelling and gaining even more praise and admiration from other Pokemon around the world just too perfect to pass up. He took the painting and anything else that he might need with him and left his home.

[ Personality. ] Spiteful | Narcissistic | Judgmental | Analytical | Thoughtful | Charismatic | Manipulative | Apathetic
After all that he's been through, any sort of kindness or sympathy has been lost to Gideon. He has shoved any sort of care for others aside in favor of loving his own being, including his looks, knowledge, talents, and anything else. He follows the belief that he is the greatest and most handsome man in the world, and there's absolutely nothing that can change this state of mind for him. Anyone who seems to challenge or question this state of mind are simply naïve in his eyes, and therefore 'unworthy' of his presence. He's easily annoyed, and often insults others in his mind, as a way of venting his irritation. He judges by appearances; if you're pretty, you're worth talking to. If not, you're disgusting and need to go away. Very rarely does he meet someone who he considers beautiful, and if he ever does, he gets jealous and hateful.

Other people are seen as mere entertainment for Gideon. /Especially/ women. Using his charm and good looks, the Dusknoir absolutely delights in making the ladies swoon over him, as their flustered blushes and shy giggles only serve to fuel his ego and remind him of how beautiful he is. However, he has no interest in romance whatsoever, as he thinks that there is no woman good enough for him. Towards men he's polite, but someone observant could quite possibly read through his demeanor and realize how he holds himself in a significantly higher regard. Passive aggressiveness is his forte.

He may seem very caring and sympathetic, always flashing a nice smile and offering kind words, but it's all a façade, used to gain trust to further his own ambitions. In reality, Gideon doesn't care about anyone but himself, and actually holds a certain amount of hatred towards anyone and everyone he meets. Throughout his several years of life, he's learned how to carry himself with the utmost perfection. Knowing exactly how to stand, how to square his shoulders and hold his chin high. As well, he created a certain way of words, listening carefully to what others say and knowing precisely how to phrase his own sentences in order to get a certain reaction. However, he is still slow in the mind, and he can lag in a conversation as he analyzes his next words.

While Gideon may be an expert actor, he's not flawless, no matter what he wants to believe. There are times when he's unable to keep up his charade, and these moments, albeit rare, are enough to show his true nature. Due to his general exhaustion, these moments are most often seen early in the morning or late at night. Additionally, despite his collected demeanor, he can easily slip into a rage if someone mentions or takes the painting, or he can grow anxious and frantic if he loses it.

[ Advantages. ]
- Good with words. Flawless with words, actually. He tends to know exactly what to say, when to say it, and how to say it. He's manipulative and calculating, and can usually get what he wants just with the right phrase.
- Analytical. He's quick to judge a situation, or judge a person.
- Perceptive. He can read others pretty well due to their body language. He also likes to take mental notes and learn about his peers: what they like, their strengths and weaknesses, their flaws, their wishes and curses. He tends to swerve their personalities to his own good. (note: this is only here to look fancy, but im only gonna have him know what's revealed in rp! im not gonna make him OP or anything, so don't worry)
- Closed book. He's very hard to read. He's a master of his own body language and can appear one way while feeling the complete opposite.

[ Disadvantages. ]
- Arrogant, yet weak. His bark is stronger than his bite, so despite any sort of boasting he might toss about, he's actually not all that skilled in physical confrontations.
- Easily tired. He's an old man, after all. He can easily get tired, and needs to constantly take a sitting break, or a quick rest.
- Not intimidating. He looks very easy to beat up, don't you think?
- Slow. Since he likes to choose his words carefully, he's very slow and lags a lot in conversations. It can take a few seconds between sentences and exchanges for him to say something.
- Judgmental. He judges everyone by their appearance right off the bat. So, he can have someone pegged for a complete monster when they might not actually be that bad of a person and, therefore, might lose a lot of advantages by shunning them out due to how they look.

[ Likes. ] Mr. Dark ; women ; attractive people ; conversation ; social situations
[ Dislikes. ] children ; unattractive people ; Dragon types ; the Freak Show ; relationships
[ Indifferences. ] the circus

[ Misc. ]
- Since he appears as he did in the painting, Gideon's apparent age is 32.
- Gideon keeps his painting hidden.
- If you ever see the painting, don't mention it. Ever.
- Don't touch it, either.
- His skin looks almost rough, like dried paint.
- He only puts on one show a night, as the shows wear him out. He also dedicates some days to training the Pokemon, and on those days, he can't perform. He's a tired ol' man.
- Gideon liked to entertain his family and others, so he knows a little more than just Pokemon taming. He knows a few magic tricks, and can sing (though it's not his favorite form of entertainment), and he loves story telling - mostly when its about himself.
- He only tames the Pyroars on stage; he does not care for them and, in fact, hates them. He doesn't like Ferals, and is very strict and hateful towards them offstage. He leaves the caretaking to the Atelier faction.
- Fun fact: Gideon captured that shiny Pyroar before he joined the circus. His father helped him, and he was going to tame the beast and use it in his shows, but that's when the incident with his wife occurred. Gideon took the Pyroar, as well as a few other larger Pokemon that he'd captured, with him into the circus.
- Not to mention the fact that that cat hair gets everywhere. Ew.
- It's not like a lot of it makes Gideon sneeze a lot, or anything.
- Totally not.
- Gideon could ride the carousel to regain his youth, but there's one problem: while he might return to his young age, he's still strongly attached to the painting. The painting is over a hundred years old, and so he'd still be as physically old as the painting.
- He has an abnormal looking scar on his left pectoral.
- Gideon is heterosexual, but still charismatic towards men.
- He's about 6'6".
- Sorry ladies (and men), Gideon despises relationships, and isn't gonna be in one any time soon. Or, ever.
- He's got a cousin - a mister Charles Seager. (charles wasnt one of the cousins who lived with him)
- A bit more family trivia: His mother was a Dusknoir named Belle, and his father was a Mewtwo named Frederick. While they're his birth parents, Gideon was technically the first born to them, as they married after his father divorced his first wife. So, Gideon's two older siblings, two Absols named Andrew and Elis, joined the family with his father. Afterward, his two other siblings were born, a Dusknoir named Martin and a Dusklops named Annabelle. His elderly aunt was named Arica, a Mewtwo from his father's side of the family (she was his older sister), and of the three cousins living with him, only one was her child: another Mewtwo by the name of Krystine. The other two cousins were from his father's side, still, and were two Muks named Juliet and Gerald. Big family, right? Still, Gideon did not necessarily consider them as family, because he never grew close to anyone but his own two parents.
